Your Guide to Teleradiology Reporting at 4ways
What to expect during your 4ways onboarding experience
Thinking about taking on flexible remote reporting alongside your NHS role?
Since 2005, 4ways has partnered with consultant radiologists across the UK to deliver high-quality teleradiology services, helping NHS trusts reduce reporting backlogs and improve patient care.
Today, our panel includes more than 400 radiologists who choose when and how much they report.
Considering joining us?
Here’s what you can expect from our onboarding process, from your first conversation with our team through to your first reporting shift.
After you send your enquiry to us, a member of our radiologist onboarding team will contact you.
This is usually a phone call with our onboarding lead, Rob Lacey, which we use to find out more about you, your background, your subspeciality, etc.
During this call, we will go through the remote reporting process, and it’s a great opportunity to share any questions or concerns you may have with our team, who will do our best to accommodate you.
After your initial chat with our onboarding team, we will carry out several checks, including confirming your GMC registration and verifying that you hold a substantive post within the NHS.
We’ll also do the following steps to ensure every radiologist is thoroughly checked before they report with us at 4ways:
- DBS
- CV
- Interview with Medical Director
- Appraisal document
- Indemnity
Our IT team will contact you to arrange a convenient date and time for the delivery of your equipment and onboarding documentation.
A member of our onboarding team will personally hand-deliver your workstation, set everything up to ensure it’s ready for use, and make sure everything is working correctly ahead of your training session.
They’ll also be available to answer any questions you have and help you get started with confidence.
Training can be delivered either in person at our Radiologist Training Centre or remotely, although it is typically completed remotely in a single three-hour session.
During the session, our IT team will guide you through the reporting systems, demonstrate how to use the software, and answer any questions you may have.
Once you have learned how to use the 4ways platform, there is no need for additional training on NHS specific systems. All reporting is completed via the 4ways IT platform, regardless of which NHS hospital the scan originated from, creating a consistent, seamless and efficient workflow for radiologists.
As part of the training, you will complete a supervised test case to ensure you are comfortable using the software and reporting workflow.
Following your training, you will be asked to complete an additional 15 test cases at your own pace.
Once these have been reviewed and approved by one of our experienced Clinical Leads, you’ll be fully onboarded and ready to begin reporting for 4ways.
Once your training has been successfully completed, a member of our onboarding team will contact you to get you started with your first report.
They’ll support you before and after your first session, answer any questions, and ensure you feel confident and reassured as you begin reporting.
From there, you’ll report according to the schedule that works best for you. To help you settle in, your first 100 routine reports will undergo an enhanced clinical audit, providing additional quality assurance and guidance as you become familiar with our reporting processes.
Once these have been successfully completed, you’ll be eligible to join our urgent reporting panel.
“Working with 4ways has seamlessly fit into my lifestyle, allowing me to work from home and spend more time with my family. After approximately three to six months, you’ll be introduced to your dedicated UK-based Radiologist Relationship Manager, who will become your ongoing point of contact.
They’ll provide continued support, regularly check-in with you, and help you make the most of your experience with 4ways.
From discussing reporting opportunities to keeping you informed about educational events, training, REALM, and other professional development initiatives, they’ll ensure you remain encouraged and engaged throughout your journey with us.
At 4ways, we believe reporting should fit around your life, not the other way around.
