4ways welcomes Dr Myles Nelson
4ways healthcare, a leading UK based teleradiology platform, is delighted to announce the appointment of our new CTC Clinical Lead, Dr Myles Nelson.
In his new role, Dr Nelson will be responsible for spearheading 4ways CTC reporting panel, offering invaluable experience, as well as ensuring 4ways stays abreast of all clinical developments within the field working alongside our wider Clinical Leadership Team.
Looking over Dr Nelson’s career: after qualifying as a doctor, Dr Nelson went on to train as a surgeon and after a few years as a junior registrar, he realised surgery was not the speciality for him and radiology piqued his interest much more. This led to his temporary move from Northern Ireland to Hull where he completed his radiology training at the Hull and East Yorkshire Radiology Training Scheme with subspeciality in Radionucleotide Radiology, gaining him a ARSAC Licence.
During his time at Hull, Dr Nelson was also heavily involved in CTC reporting as they were one of the first sites in the UK to get the specialist CTC reporting software. Having carried out endoscopies in his previous life as a surgeon and the innovative aspect of 3D scans it was an interesting area of radiology he found interest in pursuing.
Upon returning to Northern Ireland, Dr Nelson joined Antrim Area Hospital as a General and Nuclear Medicine Consultant Radiologist. By 2004 he became the Clinical Director and spent over 10 years in post, with a year as the Deputy Medical Director and time spent leading the pathology department alongside radiology. During this period, he also undertook various other senior positions in the private sector, one of which included joining the 4ways panel and being the QA Lead for the Bowel Cancer Screening in Northern Ireland. An instrumental role in introducing the programme across Northern Ireland and a post he held until his early retirement last year.
Dr Nelson’s early retirement was short lived, when asked about it he simply said, “I love work”. In 2024, he has now returned to report for his Trust and at a private practice, he has also continued his role at 4ways as an established contributor our CTC reporting panel and an experienced auditor, and most recently taking on the role of our new CTC Clinical Lead.
When asked about his new role at 4ways, Dr Nelson said “I am looking forward to passing on my experiences from over the years, the number of reports I have completed, situations I have dealt with, the one thing I learnt in radiology is that you can’t beat experience”.
