The survey was conducted in late April 2017, shortly before the recent ransomware attack on the NHS and other organisations outside of the UK.

In this survey, it showed that the British public would prefer organisations to keep their personal data within the UK and 82 percent of the British adults surveyed said that the Government should ask permission before storing and processing their personal data with non-UK businesses.
