Why report for us?
4ways gives you the freedom to build your own independent home reporting practice, where you decide when and how long you work for.
Unlike other providers, we do not ask for a minimum number of hours or a commitment to a minimum number of reporting sessions per week. We offer a completely flexible reporting model so you can choose when you report.

The 4ways dedicated operations team handle all the administration, allowing you to focus on reporting, and reporting only.
You won’t need to log into individual RIS, studies are allocated to you based on agreed modalities and volumes, you simply report.

To help expand and improve your ongoing practice, 4ways will audit your reporting and invite you to Quality Assurance Meetings, awarding CPD points to you and even granting access to the 4ways responsible officer for appraisal and GMC revalidation if required. Your audited data will be anonymised and will contribute to the 4ways data set which is currently one of the largest in the UK.

4ways will train you to use all our systems, and once you are ready to start reporting, our IT team will set up your work space and provide you with everything you need, including a complete diagnostic workstation with 2 diagnostic monitors.

“It’s all very easy to fit around your lifestyle. What’s great is you’re working in your own home. I work in my study but I can have lunch with my wife or children, go and make myself a cup of tea, and at the end of the day I can close the door and switch off. The setup and flexibility has meant that I am able to spend more time with my family.”

Improving Patient Safety
At the RCR Digital Learning Programme 2020, Dr Ben Timmis, FRCR, 4ways Medical Director and Alison MacKay, 4ways Head of Clinical Governance & Client Services presented the measures taken by 4ways to ensure continual improvement in our reporting quality.
You can watch their presentation below which provides an overview of how 4ways approaches quality assurance and learning from errors through a programme of continual audit and how learning is fed back into the wider system.
Flexible working...
Dr Sarah Burnett
Consultant Radiologist - 4ways reporting Radiologist since 2005
A valuable learning tool...
“4ways’ quality processes and clinical auditing services are incredibly valuable and a great learning tool to improve. Additionally, if you’re still working in the NHS or you’re doing teleradiology full time, it’s one of the best pieces of evidence that you have at your annual appraisal and consequently your revalidation so that’s incredibly helpful.”
Dr Mark Cowling
Consultant Vascular Radiologist - 4ways reporting Radiologist since 2012
Immediate support...
“Instead of driving to an NHS hospital every day, I found that I was saving commuting time of around 2 to 3 hours daily, which I could spend instead relaxing… The team is good and they’re very approachable. They fix problems if you have them and they’ve got a good backup for their computers so IT issues are always dealt with immediately.”
Dr Permjit Rangi
Consultant Radiologist - 4ways reporting Radiologist since 2008
Total control...
“Because there is no pressure to commit to the work it means that you can work safely. The most dangerous thing with teleradiology is because of the high volumes it’s very easy to become a slave to your workstation. With 4ways they make it very clear that if you can’t report it’s easy to get in touch and get it reassigned. You’re totally in control which I like.”
Dr William Mukonoweshuro
Consultant Neuroradiologist - 4ways reporting Radiologist since 2012
Radiologist-Centric...
“It’s a breath of fresh air to work with such a radiologist-centric company. 4ways lets me control how much work I want to do within my speciality and offers flexibility around when I can deliver it. The admin team is always friendly and flexible even if you can’t make your own deadlines and reporting from a single well supported RIS/PACS is very straightforward.”

FAQs
We’re here when you need us, in the meantime here are our top FAQs.
Can I join through my limited company?
Yes, you can either join us as an individual or through your limited company. We can make payments into your company account as long as you are the only radiologist reporting for that company.
What internet speed is required?
A minimum speed of 10MBPS is recommended– we don’t require setting up a separate line, we simply use the internet you currently have.
What is the minimum commitment for joining?
We don’t specify any minimum number of hours/cases to be reported on a weekly basis. All we ask is that you are reporting on an ongoing basis, as long as it’s worthwhile for yourself it’s fine by us. We appreciate some weeks may be busier than others, so can scale up/down your allocation at short notice as required.
Will I receive a workstation at home or do I need to come to a hub?
The 4ways model is based solely on flexible remote reporting from home. We set-up a complete diagnostic workstation at your home which you have access to 24/7, this gives complete flexibility to report as and when you have free time.
Do I need to insure the workstation?
There’s no need for you to take out additional home/contents insurance for the 4ways workstation as it’s covered under our insurance.
Can I work from outside the UK?
We require all of our radiologists to be based in the UK and cannot allow any reporting to be done overseas.
Do I need to amend my indemnity?
We require you to inform your indemnity provider that you are engaging in this teleradiology work which is considered to be private work.
Do you provide any training or CPD events?
4ways organises three Clinical Quality Assurance meetings a year, these events are usually held at a local hotel in the Hemel Hempstead/Watford area. Radiologists are encouraged to attend in person, however if that isn’t possible you are also able to join the session via Webinar. 3 CPD points are awarded following attendance of these meetings.
Do you provide bespoke allocation?
Yes, 4ways has a dedicated Radiology Management team who you’ll be in touch with on a regular basis regarding allocation of work. This team will have sight of your area of expertise so you will only see the cases on your worklist that you have advised us you’re happy to report.
What is your quality assurance process?
4ways has a dedicated Quality & Audit team who manage our routine audits that go on in the background and commence from the day you start with us. We audit 10% of all cross-sectional work & 2% of plain film. The audits are picked up randomly and are sent to our separate panel of auditors anonymously. This audit data is then made available to you should you wish to include it in your annual Trust appraisal.
