A new report Privacy first: Healthcare digital transformation published by UKCloud Health who commissioned a survey with ComRes into the general public’s stance on data protection, surveying over 2,000 British adults. With the aim to find out how concerned the British public is with personal data and if personally identifiable data is well protected by companies and public service organisations.
The survey was conducted in late April 2017, shortly before the recent ransomware attack on the NHS and other organisations outside of the UK.
‘72 percent said they were concerned about the protection of their personally identifiable data, including their date of birth or address… ’
In this survey, it showed that the British public would prefer organisations to keep their personal data within the UK and 82 percent of the British adults surveyed said that the Government should ask permission before storing and processing their personal data with non-UK businesses.
